MountainTrue

Mountain True is a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to sustaining good water quality in the rivers, lakes and streams that ultimately flow into the Hiwassee River. The Coalition works in a four county area with local landowners, governments, schools and businesses to understand and address threats to our water resources. We identify and work to solve water quality problems before our waters are beyond reasonable recovery. Over the past 15 years, the Coalition has brought $7.5 million in grant funding into the area. More than 90% of these funds were spent for on-the-ground projects and programs to facilitate water quality and aquatic habitat improvements in areas where it has declined! HRWC’s operational expenses are completely supported by membership dues, donations, and fundraising events. Annual residential memberships start at just $30.00; small business and organizational memberships start at $100.00.
